Basierend auf den Rahmenbedingungen und Bedarfen an deutschen Hochschulen werden aktuelle Herausforderungen abgeleitet und anhand der Fallstudie Technische Universität München (TUM) untersucht. In einem umfassenden Ansatz werden hierbei neben dem Schwerpunkt Campus Management auch die Themenfelder IT-Strategie, IT-Governance, Digitalisierung der Lehre, IT-Sicherheit, Datenschutz, IT-Support und die geplante Fortentwicklung anhand der TUM Agenda IT betrachtet. </para><para>Die Analysen zum an der TUM unter dem Namen TUMonline maßgeschneidert weiterentwickelten Campus-Management-System CAMPUSonline der Technischen Universität Graz beinhalten den Funktionsumfang, das Berechtigungsmodell, die Systemlandschaft und die organisatorische Einbettung. </para><para>Der hohe Integrationsgrad des so entstandenen Systems TUMonline wird anhand der Vielzahl der angebundenen Quell- und Zielsysteme deutlich und dient anderen Hochschulen als Benchmark. Die bedarfsorientierte Weiterentwicklung wird durch regelmäßige qualitative und quantitative Evaluationen, Regelkreise und eine entsprechende Governancestruktur sichergestellt. Exemplarisch wird eine Studierendenbefragung mit 6.261 Teilnehmenden detailliert ausgewertet. </para><para>Aufbauend auf den Erkenntnissen der Fallstudie und den Bedarfen und Herausforderungen an deutschen Hochschulen wird eine zukunftsweisende IT-Architektur für die digitale Hochschule vorgestellt. </para></section><section><title>Abstract:</title><para>Digital technologies are catalysts to make existing processes more efficient. They facilitate new capabilities and opportunities in higher education teaching as well as research, administration and are changing our society profoundly. </para><para>This thesis contributes to the development of the information technology (IT) architecture of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the context of digitization. Based on the framework conditions and needs of German HEIs, current challenges are derived and examined using the case study of the Technical University of Munich (TUM). In addition to the focus on campus management, special emphasis lays on the areas of IT strategy, IT governance, digitalization of teaching, IT security, data protection, IT support, and the further development based on the TUM Agenda IT. </para><para>The analysis of the campus management system CAMPUSonline of the Technical University of Graz, used at TUM as enhanced software under the name TUMonline, includes the scope of functions, the roles and rights model, the system landscape and the organizational embedding. </para><para>The large number of connected source and target systems demonstrates the high level of integration of TUMonline. This fact serves as a benchmark for other HEIs. The demand-oriented further development is ensured by regular qualitative and quantitative evaluations, control cycles and a corresponding governance structure. As an example, a student survey with 6,261 participants is evaluated in a detailed manner. </para><para>Reassuring the findings of the case study, the needs and challenges at German HEIs are elaborated and a future-oriented IT architecture for the digital Higher Education Institution is presented.</para></section></article>
